I’ve now become a slayer of sorts
Of vampires, the virtual kind
That prey on kind, good-hearted souls
And suck dry the loving mind

The drama queens that cannot keep
Good friends from loving them
That prick your heart and let it bleed
An ego-stroke for them

The back and forth, the push and pull
The emotional tug-of-war
That leaves you tired, hurt, frustrated
As you’re heading for the door

In full battle armor I now stand
Protect, encase my heart and pride
And slay with bitter words these folk
Until my heart has died
