The one that zigzags across my chest
embarrassed me in my youth
day glo aqua lightening bolt
against pale white skin
but easily hidden
allowing me to concentrate
on more visibly apparent defects.

The one that protrudes from my neck
purple pulsing - angry
thick and long full to bursting
would surely sate
ten hungry Draculas
My hair I wear long and loose.

The ones on my hands and wrists
snap-ready bulging branches
breathe just beneath the skin
tempting and comforting
a blade always near by.

The one which throbs with distressing frequency
runs along my right temple
fingers drawn there again and again
not to soothe its constant drone
but hoping to read
Braille-like
the source of its constant fury.
