Walking Behind You

I walk behind you, filled with treasures
I have some new and old.
Some are rather minor
While others are quite bold.

But if I add them for summation,
All these gifts, both old and new,
They pale as almost nothing
To the gift of knowing you.

When your life is filled with trouble
Sadness, grief, or heavy doubt,
When all the things you planned for
Just aren't turning out.

Please turn and look behind you
And see me as you stand,
I’ll always be behind you.
Just reach and take my hand.

I will lift your heavy burdens
And wipe away your tears,
Bear the pain of all your sorrows
Be it for a thousand years.

When all is done, I would be glad
To have helped you start anew
It's not a price too heavy
For the gift of knowing you.

Definite thumbs up

I think I got the better end of our bargain ;) Nice pace and mood and lovely sentiment.

Nice

I enjoyed the overall mood and flow in this piece. I may have punctuated some lines differently, but that's really a matter of preference.

You already know what I think

So I'm just letting you know I was here.
