summer 1998

willow girl what's the color
of your eyes?

she keeps her eyelids shut
with all her might
and smiles even laughs

now about your nice teeth
i can tell the world
whether or not

u wear braces...

but i won't

willow shade and sunny day

the willow girl and pacific

willow girl in a green tree
branches splashed with whip cream
how to find your green eyes
smiling at white blooms?

i'll turn your eyes to brown
i'll make u mad:

hey u'r ignorant about html!

didn't work

now u'r looking a hundred miles
up north toward san francisco downtown
where a man shouts incoherently
shakes his fist at passersby
his urine splashes a next year
model little economy car
foamy pool collects
under the right front tire

now your eyes are navy blue

willow girl

my nose hides
in a mug filled with amber
next to the bottle's thick green glass

the redhead's summer green eyes project joy
their sun soaked mountain creek amber forest's happy mood

* * *

willow girl got herself
friends and trees in the garden
one chimney on the roof
and one poet on the fence

come california winter-joke
the burning wood in the fireplace
smells good the friends' stories
sound even better
the poet does
what poets do
the chimney
decorates the sky with a fractal

=============================================

* * *

across from florida to california
oranges roll
oblivious to my stare
u seem cold
while the earth swims in flames
i know your eyes
and i would warm your hand
in mine
if i knew your name
