and punched me in the face again.
But I got to my feet, looked it square in the eye
and said "you will not win".
"You can break my trust, you can break my heart,
I don't care what you attack.
You can throw me every curve ball you like,
but I will always throw them back."
"You can break my family, you can take my friends,
you can even cripple my back.
But I will get up, time and again,
you can be sure that is a fact."
You can beat me 'til I'm black and blue,
but strength for my defeat you will always lack.
For I know that I will always rise again
because God has got my back."

tungtied2uover 19 years agoI think your poem would pack more punch if you could condense it.....dialogue is very difficult to write I've found....in the context of a poem.....because of the use of words to descibe who's saying what....words which don't contribute to the poetic meaning or flow. Defiance in the face of adversity is a great theme though....work on this and see where it takes you....
