What I knew
a heart's warmth
a soul's worth in you
and when I saw it
fought to own it

What I know
facades shown
heard you say
I'll keep you warm
just don't stay

What Ive done
payed for a past
measured from a future
not for sale
together we failed

What I did
I purchased this
and bought little
with nothing to give
not enough to live

What I've known
shoulda stayed free
I sold cheap
a whole soul's worth
the truth that was my own

What I find
so cruel, not kind
despite the cost
I bought the truth
and did not sell it

There's a sense of poignancy and disappointment in this. Not a fun piece but it has depth of feeling to it.
