Click hereI don't dig holes for the dead,
but for the living who likes
to put the dead in holes,
and loves who they were
and for the worms
who loves what they became,
and for myself,
to see that I can still
climb out.
and why, you may ask?

Well, yes sir, that sort of dialogue makes perfect sense in that light, and such limitations don't just apply to the English. But imagining an English dialect with a hard-working grave digger's face - - - makes excellent sense. I retract my earlier concerns.
I can really dig this guy's attitude on digging graves. What a healthy way of looking at a less that happy occupation.
"But no, tell me it's not so; with plural pronouns/nouns you've attached likes & loves, when it should be like & love! Guess even the best can have an off moment."
I disagree, the plurals are not mistahes but dialogue. Consider, for instance, an uneducated working class Englishman.
