Click here"I hope you're right, Gram," Shannon said as she burrowed herself into my shoulder.
"I'm sure of it," I said as we walked arm-in-arm back to where the horse were quietly grazing.
Later, as we rode leisurely back to the house, I caught sight of Shannon as she turned back toward me, and I could feel the tears start to fall. For in that one moment, I saw the years melt away, and for just that one moment, I was 19 again and in love for the first time.

"Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go"
I always loved the duet from Bonnie Raitt and John Prine.
I now have a mental image that is a perfect backdrop to the song.
Well done - 5 stars

Righto, Nitpic: this here Rosalie slut picked out her "Clint Eastwood" as well as her "imperfectly perfect" lover a la that Nat Geo photog-traveler from "The Bridges of Madison County" in the shape of this Clint-y first love. Why, actually, goddanged Story Clint resembles "multi-relationship-seeking-drone, grossly-unwilling-to-be-ever-tied-down-to-one-vag" Clint Eastwood, and that Bridges of MC Robert Kincaid to a T, yessiree!
Anyone of you notice that?
That said, i kinda reckon this story was a stolen one. Author here don't write like this usually. Something Fishy burnin'...
Perfect. One of the very best stories I've read about what real world love is really all about.
sharing mistakes and love is what grandparents are supposed to do. Hopefully our young learn from our history. Conroe in the early 60s had less than 10,000 folks and was a 50mile trek from downtown Houston. IH45 was just reaching out to it from Houston. Grandma in small town Conroe, where everyone knew everyone, would have had a lot to deal with. Glad your story had good ending.
