Adam's face began to turn blue as he remained there, helpless, "Alright, get the valve in him, and get the stretcher ready. When you come back up, bring him to the life support."

One of the medics knelt down, and put Adam to a bag-valve mask, and started pumping hair into him, while the other began to set up the stretcher.

~~~
Adam shook a little as he lay on the bed, still unable to move or feel, only an inch from gagging up a lung with a plastic tube down his throat. A respirator gently rises up, and pushed down, pushing air into his lungs as he lay there, paralyzed.
His eyes looked, and watched Nigel come in, looking very grim "Alright, now here's what we're going to do," He said, "First, while you're immobile, we're going to take another blood sample - it's that time of the week again."
"And then, when you have some feeling back in you, we're going to inject a dose of Sodium Pentothol." Nigel said as he held up a small, glass bottle. Adam looked at him with expressionless eyes - he can't even move his eyebrows, "The more commonly referred term is 'Truth Serum'. " Adam inwardly gasped.
"As I said, I am very short on time, so I can't afford to play Mr Nice Guy. So when you recover tomorrow, you are going to tell me everything you know about merfolk whether you like it or not." Nigel placed the bottle on a small metal table, and turned to leave, just as a doctor came in, with a needle and a pouch to take the blood sample.
Can not stop reading
I have also enjoyed your story since the very beginning.
I am hoping for some of Merricks allies to intervene.
Neverthless, I will wait as long as it takes.
Great read.
It's Not That Simple
I really wish readers would understand that. Both Adam and Merrick were detained by agents of a facility supported and established by the government. Calling the police wouldn't have helped, as their authority would have been overruled by a higher power that would have repelled under the title 'Classified'. And it's not like they could look themselves - Yuri has her classes and her future to think about, and Jamal is still in the middle of his probation from his past - both are tied up. The Agency could be anywhere, and they wouldn't know where to start looking.
Yuri HAS crossed-referenced the addresses on the videos they received, but they're all from random locations, and there aren't any numbers to call - I thought I established that in this chapter. That's just the type of power the government can pull - it's scary and unfair, but that's how they've always been.
As for the Captain - I can't say anything without spoiling it.
I really have loved
This story from day one. And I will read and love it till it's very end. That being said how in THE hell could Adam's roomies be content with a video that says he was captured and a cuddle from a big cat pacify them to the point of not alerting anybody or even looking themselves. Even if they were afraid of bringing Merrick into it they could of called about Adam. And Adams boss. Wtf sending work for him to do? I mean wow seriously?
These ppl in their lives really need to check their priorities for Petes sake!
LOL I know you can't go killing people. I was just expressing how much i detest Nigel's barbaric nature and lack of caring for a living creature. He deserves to be one of his own subjects. But, I agree an uproar wouldn't help. At the same time they must be able to do something. And yes, my hopes they'd let Merrick go when things started getting brutal or killing Nigel would lead to flat/quick endings. That's why you're the author and I am the reader who is hating your character. But, that is an ulitmate compliment, when you create such emotion in your readers :) Look forward to the next chapter!
Cannd
Nigel may be deluded, but he didn't get to be a warden of a government research facility by announcing his secret ambitions left and right to the world. He worked hard and connived his way to the top - he's crazy, he's not stupid.
If Erin were to take Nigel's deeds to the news, that would create the Mermaid Uproar that not only he, but EVERYONE wants to avoid - if anything, it'd only make things worse for Merrick - and keep in mind that these are all people in a civilized society, they just can't go around killing people just because they strongly oppose what they're doing; that behavior is barbaric and reckless. If I were to kill him off just like that, the drama would be a flat ending right there.
