He needed to cut his hair he thought.

He wore the uniform that evening as he ate his dinner. He was as proud of himself as he had been when promoted to Captain.

It was the first time in his life he had worn anything other than clan colors.

His island was just two hundred meters away from another small island and two hundred and fifty meters away from a bigger island. That island had what appeared to be an eating establishments on it and at times he could hear laughter.

He made sure they saw him in his ranger uniform.

He had given up on receiving messages from his first wife. He did watch the news and was very pleased to see a short segment of the graduation from the culinary school.

He was suddenly proud to see his former wife on stage and almost burst with pride when she was proclaimed the best in her class.

The ovation she received made him cry.

He did not know he could still cry. He had not since he learned that doing so was a sign of weakness. He had just learned it was also a sign of great joy.

He also saw a small news segment that showed him sitting surrounded by dozens of baby ostriches. The story was about the baby ostriches but all could see he was in uniform.

He smiled.

Two days later when he returned to his cabin his first wife eBs was waiting for him. He wanted to rush to her and begin sex immediately but instead greeted her with just a soft hug. She had cooked for him again, water creatures that time.

He said he needed a shower before they sat to eat and she said to go ahead, there was no hurry. He had been in the shower just a centon when she joined him there. She embraced him and kissed him. His erection soon intruded but she just slid it in her and continued the kiss.

She was stunned to see he was proud of her.

As they ate a grilled seafood platter she told him, "The Federation has granted our planet Protectorship. You are now free to go home."

He smiled at her and said, "I am home."

She smiled and took him to bed and coaxed him onto his back. She straddled him and began the fuck.

Again he had never been on his back during sex. As he watched her fuck him he wondered how many other things he had missed. He kissed her breasts softly. He kissed her lips softly. He loved her on top.

They resumed their dinner and eBs said, "I caused a scene at the restaurant when I first saw you in a ranger uniform. I laughed and cried for it seemed centons.

Everyone there then saw what I saw and all kissed and hugged me.

My executive chef suggested I visit you."

eGr realized she could see him everyday from her work. She worked at the place with all the laughter.

He realized she cared for him.

He realized he loved her.

He told her.

They did not leave the bed that time and never finished their dinner.

Her stuff was brought to his cabin by her friends, which included the Devl he had kept as a slave.

He apologized to him. The Devl hugged him.

Three weeks later two tall men were waiting for him at his cabin. One was the man he had attacked but had easily bested him. The other he learned was his father, the lord of the land all around him.

He bowed to them.

Lord Jim asked him, "Did you refuse the opportunity to return to your planet?"

"Yes sir."

"Do you wish to stay here?"

"Yes sir. Please."

"Both of those requests are now granted. You are now a free citizen of Cel.

Do you wish your lover to become your wife again?"

"Yes sir, very much so."

"For that request to be granted you must come with us to wed your wife."

The two men got on the platform and watched him fight himself for a few long moments until he stepped on the platform. He chose to stand in the middle of it instead of next to the rails.

They rode to the island in silence and when they reached the other island there was a roar of applause from all there. His first wife was in tears; he had conquered his greatest fear for her.

A party immediately began at the restaurant in which she worked which included a one centon wedding ceremony.

The Kindred Yggs took eGr aside and said, "Your planet owes you its Protectorship. It was watching you grow into a gentleman and civilized being that persuaded the council to vote yes. Thank you for surprising us.

With the same growth among your people membership in the Federation is no longer out of the question."

He was astonished to learn his behavior was responsible for the fate of his planet.

His wife was beaming at him. In fact all were beaming at him.

He really was home.

Then he realized he would have to cross the water again.
