And so suddenly they were still. Panting gently, they lay entwined. Their chests stuck together with the film of sweat that covered them both, his now softening length still inside her wetness. His head hung above her, neither of them speaking. The silence began to fill his suddenly exhausted brain. The music of their love replaced with only the sounds of their gasps for breath, the refrigerator humming and the distant sound of that damn bird. Reason rode back into his thoughts, chasing out instinct but leaving the unmistakeable afterlife of euphoria in every muscle.
Abigail opened her eyes. Her hands gingerly let go of the counter and reached up, gently cradling his head. Her lips parted, her breath short, she stared into his eyes.
Smiling, he fixed her with his kind gaze.
