At the crisis point, when her sister reveals the phone call, Betty realizes what she should have already figured out: Ken knows.

An unfiltered look into this marriage occurs as she NEVER apologizes, nor is Ken furious about anything, including that she never says that she is sorry. In fact she attempts to act belligerent that he hasn't spoke up with concern over her lies.

His original plan was to take it to this point, then kick her to the curb. Instead, he is satisfied making her some sort of subservient cum dumpster.
