When Nicholas woke the next morning after he'd found Lena gone he found too that his mind was made up about things he hadn't even taken the time to think about the night before. He'd gotten dressed, had him some breakfast which he sorely needed, then went into his office to look for any clues that would help him figure out where Lena had run off to. He prayed that he reached her in time or he was damn sure that he wouldn't be responsible for his actions.

While in his office looking through the paperwork she'd left on his desk, he'd taken out his cell phone with the thought in mind to call Stacy, just in case Lena had called her. He saw that he had a missed call from Stacy and that she had left a message. He hit the voicemail button on his phone. Surprise lit up his chest when he heard Stacy asking him to call her back, then Rusconi got on the phone asking him to do the same. He couldn't lie; the message shook him to his core. He started to call back immediately but realized that finding Stacy was much more important so he'd pocketed his phone.

Stacy had left the plans for the anniversary party on the desk along with the note she'd written him and her wedding rings. He looked through those but found nothing that would indicate where she had gone unless, unless he thought she had decided to get a room at the very inn where she had booked the anniversary party. It was worth a shot to check. It was an expensive enough place, he saw from the brochure he picked up. He also saw the figures for the entire party, he would be angry about those at a later date, he promised himself.

He dialed the number on the brochure and when an operator picked up he asked if his wife had arrived at the hotel yet. He assumed that this was not the same as being given information about a guest to a stranger. When the operator told him after checking that she had no guest by that name he hung up the phone and sat down in his chair wondering where in the hell he should look next.

***

It was the third day in a row that Nicholas had been searching for Lena. He found her after first driving around for several hours; making calls hadn't gotten him anywhere. He had to bribe a few front desk receptionists to give him information and then a key to her room.

He used the key card to enter the room to find Lena asleep in the bed. The rage that had been building up in him softened as his eyes laid on her. It had to be that he knew that she carried his child inside her that made him feel this way.

He sat on the edge of the bed and gently shook her awake.

***

When Lena opened her eyes to see Nicholas sitting next to her on the bed, without caring how he got in or what he was doing there she asked him to leave.

"I'm not going anywhere." Nicholas declared to her.

"God!" she exclaimed throwing back the covers and getting out of the bed, "What do you want?"

Lena went into the bathroom where she washed her face and brushed her teeth. Nicholas was standing by the bed when she came back out.

"I heard your message on the answering machine."

"What message?" she snapped. She was already in a bad mood after being woken by him and now he was making up stuff.

"The one from your doctor." He told her heatedly.

She froze at hearing this.

"You picked up after the beep. I also heard her ask you if you wanted to come in for an initial appointment and you told her no. Please do not tell me you did something stupid." He snarled.

"What does it matter to you what I do with my body?" she walked away from him.

He grabbed her wrists and jerked her back towards him, "It matters." He said through clenched teeth.

Lena had never seen him look so fierce before not even when he was pulling his Incredible Hulk routine the past weeks.

His hands were clamped rigidly around her wrists. The look in his eyes told her something that she could hardly believe something that she scoffed at.

"So now you care? Really?" she asked caustically then, "Let me go" she demanded glaring at him.

After he released her she went to sit on the bed. "What is this about? Because I know it isn't about me. Did it finally get through to you that you can't have Stacy?"

Tears filled her eyes and she wanted to make them go away. She didn't want this fucker to see her crying. She had been crying for the past few days straight, any little thing set her off. She realized that this had been going on for a while, before she had even known that she was pregnant. Pregnancy had made a cry-baby out of her and as far as she was concerned it was not a good look.

She broke off the nasty taunt she had been serving up to Nicholas because she knew it didn't have the same effect while she had tears running down her face.

She held her face in her hands trying to get a grip on her emotions.

Nicholas kneeled down next to her on the floor and when she felt his hand on her she cried harder, then his arms were around her and she sobbed against his chest.

As Nicholas held her he felt like utter shit. The only thought on his mind was getting her home where they could just work out—FUCK—everything. He didn't care how long it would take or how hard it would be, it was the right thing to do. It was what he wanted to do. He'd known that coming to the room.

***

Once Lena stopped crying Nicholas and she had a long talk. They talked about things that they should have spoken about a long time ago including how they each felt about their motivations for getting married and Stacy. At the end Lena decided to go back home with Nicholas to see where things would go for them.

They were inside the house when she turned to him with one final thing to settle.

"If you are sure that you want to try to see where this thing with us can go I won't do it if you're still going to pine for my sister like you have been."

"What are you saying?" Nicholas asked her.

"I think you know and I don't need details, either go to her and stay or come back here and we can try." She shrugged. She turned to go up the stairs then almost like it was an afterthought turned to him and said, "And until you do you can sleep in the guest room."

***

I was home alone when my phone rang. I hadn't spoken to Gavin in days or rather he hadn't spoken to me. He made it crystal clear that if we were going to be together that it wouldn't be with the thought of Nicholas hanging over our relationship. But Nicholas hadn't called me back. A small part of me hoped he wouldn't.

So when my phone finally rang I hoped it was Gavin calling me, but instead it was Nicholas. He wanted to meet me.

After speaking with Nicholas I immediately called Gavin. I was surprised that he answered but then I figured that he must have already talked to Nicholas. I told him that I had no plans of meeting Nicholas on my own. My hope was that he would stop me from going through with it as some point. To my relief he agreed.

***

I rode inside the car with Gavin on our way to the hotel. The silence was so loud it was hard for me to tell whether or not I was awake or dreaming. And if I was dreaming then was this a nightmare? I had been surreptitiously watching Gavin from the corner of my eye while he drove. He seemed to be fine, in control even.

We drove up to the front of the hotel where a valet took Gavin's keys and handed him a ticket. We walked to the front entrance where a doorman held the door open for us while we entered. The lobby was expansive and beautiful. There were flowing water fountains and actual live ducks waddling around.

Instead of going to the front counter that faced us across the room as we went in, Gavin took my hand and guided me towards some elevators to the right. I was so nervous and shaking that I was glad for him to take me by the arm and lead me to wherever we were going. The heels of my shoes were loud as they clicked against the floor.

We got into the elevator and rode it up to the sixteenth floor. The walk down the hall to the room was the longest one I'd taken in my life. We didn't go far. Gavin stopped at the third room on the right and took a key card out of his pocket. He used the card to unlock the door then stepped back to let me go inside first.

I crossed my arms, in an effort to steady myself. My heart was beating so fast I thought I might pass out. My throat had gone as dry as a desert, I put my hand up to it to massage it some, not that it helped.

In spite of my complete nervousness my eyes bugged at the beauty of the room. The king sized bed was against the far right wall across from it was a sitting area with sofa and chair, a small coffee table. Fresh flowers sat on it and the few others spread around the room. The two double sized windows would have been covered by cream colored curtains except that someone had pulled the curtains back so that the city below was entirely visible.

That's where my eyes landed on Nicholas. He stood, in a suit, looking out of the farthest left window, a drink in his hand.

A brief second later he turned and our eyes met. Even from across the room the heat from his gaze seared me. His stare did things to my body that it yearned to have his hands and mouth do as well. I closed my eyes against the feeling, couldn't believe that this was happening.

"Would you like something to drink?" Gavin asked from behind me.

Not trusting my voice I nodded that I would like a drink, needed one actually. He produced a glass of white wine from the small bar I had neglected to take in behind me. My hands shook so much as I took it that I thought I might spill it. I took a sip then as Nicholas began to walk toward me I tilted the glass back and gulped it until I had swallowed all of the contents.

He smiled as he came towards me. I wasn't sure what he would do when he reached me but he only said hi. He was two inches from my face as he said it. I could feel his warm breath on my lips and could not stop myself from imagining what his mouth would feel like on my breasts. They pebbled, aching to know.

"Come on let's go have a seat." He took my hand and I followed him slowly after looking over my shoulder to see what Gavin was doing. He was tossing back Scotch like it was water.

Our eyes connected but he seemed to be looking through me rather than at me. I had no idea what he was really thinking but it was clear that he was not here to rescue me.

As I followed Nicholas I hadn't realized that the part of the room that I was in wasn't on level with where Nicholas had been. I tripped on the raised platform that served as a step into the second half of the room. Gavin caught me and held onto me for longer than necessary before letting me go again. I was grateful. I needed something to let me know that he was here in this with me, as selfish as that may seem. But then again his ultimatum had been that I—do this—or that our relationship would be over. And he'd meant it, which was a large part of the reason that I was here, though not totally.

I moved towards the windows and stood looking down at the bright city lights and the traffic against the backdrop of night. I felt slightly calmer now. I think the wine had gone straight to my head as I hadn't been able to eat much all day long.

I felt hands lift the hair from the back of my neck and then lips press against me. I closed my eyes at the feel of it. I could also feel the hard length of his cock as his entire body pressed into mine and his hands came up around the front of my dress. He cupped my breasts in his hands while plucking my nipples through the fabric. I wore no bra.

"Nicholas" I moaned from the sweet torture he was inflicting on me.

His right hand began to trail its way up the outside of my thigh, he made his way under my dress and inside the strap of my black thong as if he were going to pull them off, but then his fingers stilled where they were and I could feel him turn away from me, towards where Gavin must have stood.

"What did you do to her?" he asked almost casually as his fingers stroked the area around my thong. I could tell by the sound of his voice that he was referring to Lena.

The reply from Gavin took a second. I assumed he'd taken a swallow of his drink as he spoke. His voice was strong and full of bite.

"Everything." he answered Nicholas.

Nicholas's hand gripped my thigh harder and I moaned out loud from the exquisite pleasure.

"You like that?" Nicholas turned back to me, his hand reached into my panty front.

With two fingers he spread my folds. I was slick and hot, his fingers had me gasping in no time.

Finally he pulled back from me before I could come and I heard his fingers go into his mouth. He made loud slurping noises as well as making sure we all knew he liked the taste.

Oh god I thought. I didn't know if I could handle this. My body was still shaky but now it was from need. I needed Nicholas to finish what he started. I needed him so bad I wasn't sure I could control myself. I didn't want to lose Gavin.

"I need to taste more of you." Nicholas said as he pulled me over to the large bed.

He helped me out of my dress and then pulled my thong off. Now I was naked in front of him and Gavin who sat in a chair in the corner of the room, his eyes on me.

Nicholas wasted no time taking my breasts into his mouth. He seemed so hungry for me that it was all I could do to allow him to touch me without ripping his clothes off too.

He guided me back onto the bed still kissing and marking me all over with his tongue. Finally he made his way down to my impatiently waiting pussy.

The moment his mouth touched me I came so hard. His warm mouth covered my mound and made sweeping strokes until he pulled just my clit into his mouth and sucked and nibbled it.

"Nichooolllasss." I screamed loud enough for the neighbors on either side of us to hear. My hands were planted firmly in his dark hair.

"That one doesn't count." He said looking up at me his hazel eyes full of sparks. "I could have been anyone."

He stood and undressed while I watched him, much more relaxed now since I'd come. As soon as he was undressed and had a condom on he moved between my legs.

***

Gavin knocked back more Scotch as he watched Stacy come from having another man's head between her legs. He tried not to compare the way that she came just now to the way she came with him. He wanted to snatch her away from Nicholas and leave the room but he couldn't do that. He couldn't continue to wonder about where her thoughts lingered. Did she want him or the other guy? He had to know so he suffered through this.

Nicholas had her on her back and the way he was pumping into her made Gavin feel insecure for probably the first time in his life where a woman was concerned. It wasn't that the guy was bigger, it was simply the way that she looked at him, responded to him. If Gavin hadn't known any better he would have sworn that they had been doing this very same thing for years, at least.

The way their bodies moved and he tried not to notice but it was almost impossible, they moved like they had no question as to what they each wanted and like they were both getting it exactly from each other.

The way Stacy's thighs gripped him, the way she pulled at his hair, the way they stared each other in the face and laughed at the same time. Gavin could barely take it any longer.

***

Nicholas was an animal and his sex was amazing as I knew it would be. He could make me come just by asking me to and had several times already. He was also as insatiable as Gavin.

Even through this I'd seen Gavin. He had been walking back and forth in the room to get drinks and staring out the window while I gave myself to Nicholas.

As Nicholas lay flat onto his back and I sat on top of him after we'd both come for seemingly, the thousandth time, I knew that what I had been feeling as we'd had sex wasn't all on my side. I could fuck Nicholas for the rest of my life; he'd make me come and scream so good. I would probably always feel for him, love him, but he wasn't Gavin. And I hoped that what I was seeing in him meant he felt something stronger for my twin than what he felt for me.

Our eyes connected as I looked down at him seeing a reflection of my thoughts in his eyes, we both knew that this had been a one- time occurrence. Considering the situation I probably shouldn't have but I was too bursting with happiness not to. I leaned down to kiss his mouth to thank him for the night that I wouldn't ever forget, for knowing that we would be able to remain friends after all of this was over.

In the middle of our goodbye kiss I heard the door click shut. I yanked my head around to see what I already knew had happened, Gavin was gone.

***

I was naked, I didn't care. I grabbed a sheet from the bed and ran out of the room as fast as I could go. There were people in the hall that I ignored as I caught up with Gavin just as I reached the elevator where he stood having pushed the down button.

"Gavin, please don't leave." I begged him.

He turned to me with a look on his face that rendered my heart stopped. He looked so hurt that I wanted nothing more than to wipe that destroyed look off his face.

His voice slurred when he spoke. "I won't stand in your way anymore and I hope that—that you are happy."

"Gavin." I couldn't help myself even knowing it was the wrong thing to do, I grabbed his arm.

"Don't fucking touch me." he roared yanking his arm away like I had burned him.

"I'm sorry." I said as tears came to my eyes, "don't leave please."

The elevator door opened and he got on, I got on and the few other people waiting and pretending not to be paying attention to our conversation got on.

"What are you doing?" he asked me.

"I'm coming with you."

"Why" he snapped.

"Why do you think?" I snapped back at him angrily. I dashed the tears that were running down my face away in my frustration.

As if he just realized it he said to me, "you don't have any clothes on."

"I'm coming with you."

"You're just going to walk down into the lobby of this hotel and outside in that?" he asked as the elevator dinged and opened up.

I tucked the sheet around me and attempted to step off into the lobby. Before I could he pulled me back into him and scooped me up into his arms.

We must have looked a sight to the patrons and employees that were entering, leaving, and just walking around near the lobby. I thought someone would ask about the sheet I was wrapped up in but we made it to the door with only stares from everyone. Maybe things like this happened all the time at this hotel.

Outside Gavin went into his pants pocket and handed the valet his ticket. The valet looked like he wanted to say something but again all he did was stare and then went off to get the car.

***

When Nicholas made it to the lobby his eyes followed those of everyone still in the viewing distance of the front doors.

Gavin stood there holding Stacy in his arms while she was still wrapped up in the sheet. Nicholas brought her clothes down with him and figured since the room was in his name he'd better pay for the sheet. He settled it at the front desk and then walked out to where Gavin was helping Stacy into the driver's seat of the car.

Nicholas held out Stacy's things to the other man.

Gavin could have dealt without ever seeing Nicholas again.

"You keep them" Gavin sneered at Nicholas.

They both knew that he meant in a souvenir type of way. Gavin was never letting Nicholas near Stacy again.

When Nicholas just shrugged and said that he didn't want them it took Gavin a moment to process the information. It hadn't been said with malice or disappointment or anger. The two men eyed each other and a second later the clothes changed hands.

Nicholas handed his ticket to the valet as Stacy drove away.

***

Nicholas got home around 2 am. He climbed the stairs and went to the shower in his bedroom. He washed every inch of himself then pulled on some clean underwear and a t-shirt.
