I sat in my dressing room, which was more like a large closet, water bottle in hand, and took it all in. It was an amazing night. Probably the greatest night of my life. A security guard interrupted my thoughts. "Mr. Gold, some chick asked me to give this to you", he said as he held out a small envelope towards me.
"Thanks Gary", I said as I took the envelope in hand. It had been a long time since someone passed me a note backstage. The water bottle dropped to the floor as I stood in stunned silence.
"You all right Mr. Gold?" Gary inquired.
"Yeah", was all I could manage to mutter. The note read, "You did it!", but that's not what threw me. Just below it was a lock of bright red hair.
