Click hereThe fly in the ointment was that according to common law, the baby the Amy and Paul had conceived was considered to be mine. The common law was based on the idea that a baby conceived during marriage was considered to be mine, regardless of any information to the contrary. The concept was to prevent bastards. We were all devastated, but it didn't help any.
So now here I sit, my bottle of scotch at hand, trying to figure out what is going to happen with my wife, and my life. It's been two days now, and Amy is having to figure out what is going to happen with her life. I have no idea how to deal with situation.
Oh, and I got a call from a buddy at the Pentagon. The VA has finally figured out that I'm not dead. So the Army is deducting what she was paid from VA benefits from my pay. It's going to take me years to pay that off.
What a conundrum, the war hero returns and finds his wife has remarried because the US Army said he was dead and was now 2 months pregnant by the new husband. He said he searched for her for 2 years but my question is if she was getting VA benefits why was he not told where she was. Now that leaves a real fucked situation, does stay with the new husband who she is now 2 months pregnant with or go to her War hero husband and have him raise the other guys kit. Now he gets told he has to pay back the VA benefits paid to his wife. Talk about a fucked up situation, somebody is going to get hurt real bad either way. The wife will be a basket case and probably never fully recover mentally. Since this story was written in 2007 and the author has not written anything in the last 14 years chances that he will finish it are slim and none.
