Samantha is a girl fresh into adulthood and alone after her emotionally-abusive mother passes away. Knowing that she has a father somewhere, Sam tracks him down and travels across the continental United States with only an old photograph and enough scars to last a lifetime. Philip and Sam meet for the first time and take a chance on each other, reluctant but hopeful that they might establish a lasting bond with one another.
There’s just one complication: ever since her sixteenth birthday, Sam has taught herself how to "slide," transforming from a human guise into a black-furred wolf. And she’s willing to bet her dad knows something about that. Touched by the Moon follows the travels of Sam as she meets her father Philip and learns what life amongst a pack of werewolves in the American South is like.
