A stranger peers through these dark windows
My thoughts are splayed, sliced and diced
Laid out carefully for introspection
Life is played in chronological rewind
"Paint a self portrait…what do you see?"
A long stare into fun house mirrors
Tracing roots to this tree
Trudging depths and unearthing truths
Remnants on the way to decay
Uneasy on the eyes, harder on consciousness
Analysis brings me face to face
With beasts I’d rather not poke or prod
Let sleeping dogs lie, but eventually they awake
Creatures that snore loudly as of late
Better to coax them from slumber
Lured from the cave of darkest recesses into light
Boogie men don’t dance in the presence of the sun
I walk through this fire on my own terms
A diamond will emerge when all is said and done

not for Certified Metamorphists only...

And at the end of your fifty minutes a satisfied therapist will say you have made a lot of progress today or else what did you mean by diamond? - but, sorry our time is up.... more about the boogy man and such next time... I believe that most therapists would love a similar title to their name, say: Certified Metamorphist?

Very nicely done — the phrase, "through a glass darkly," kept playing in my head as I read this.
