People say they are only words, nothing more, Author, Poet
Yet, you capture my heart and transport my mind
With those verbs and nouns you spew so freely
Your adjectives painting the grandiose or sublime
To love-drenched beaches and torture-dungeons alike
I readily go with you without fear, stranger
You lift my spirit one day and drown my soul the next
Fill me with hope and force me to shiver in danger
But most of all you reveal and define parts of me
Illuminate what I value and hate about myself
Expose my suppressed needs and fears, excite my deepest desires
And so, I reach out again to pull "us" from my virtual bookshelf
and delight in your talent with only words.
Noticed your comment, and thought I'd respond.
I often comment here, anonymously, in this manner:
*****
Five.
But perhaps you know that, and refer to the brevity of most of my comments, or the fact they are simple expressions of approval, and don't contain even a hint of criticism. Don't take this wrong, but I've come to realize I'm better at recognizing good poetry than I am at writing it, so I usually don't offer criticisms. Occasionally I offer suggestions or advice, but not often, and I hardly ever delve into actual criticism. There are others here, such as yourself, who perform that service admirably. Again, don't take that wrong.
Actually, now that I think about it, perhaps I should attempt to be more helpful, more often, if that's what you mean. I have, after all, benefited in the past from criticisms and suggestions from a number of poets here. I'll think about it.
Beautiful written. Stories and Poems always carry me to a special place when they are well written. Words truly have great power and skilled writers have the ability to capture one's mind and heart Thanks for the eloquent reminder..
yo, feve, slap some comments on others, eh?
but anyone that gets theo to actually say something is ok in my book. even if I don't quite agree
Tazz been around?
Contrarian view, don't take it too serious
With those verbs and nouns you spew so freely
Word "spew" reason for choice?
Your adjectives painting the grandiose or sublime
often better to use just nouns and verbs to do the painting
Now that poem, hit the mark.
It is exactly why I love the written word.
Transports you to another world.
Cudo on this on!
Intangible Love... manufactured in the virtual world.... works for me..
Without a physical presence the mind takes centre stage and with it, the opportunity to learn..... about what drives us... what are needs are etc...
The last stanza is your finest..... If "only words" help you understand yourself and others then they are truly gold.
You are gold!.. beautifully written! .. clever.. truly special!
