and for many totally ambiguous, but very enjoyable

Was a great story, well-writ, good with description, good with personalisation, the action was scant(no car chase at all) and no animals were harmed ,,, But What was it all about, the girl comes home and says hello to the old guy across the street .. and ? (someone hit me with a brick and tell me what it was all about)
