‘77
Wyoming town
12-hour days
then we’d go down,
Long Draw Bar
waitress there
casual western
Wyoming flare,

Lee jeans
cowgirl shirt
ponytail
bit of a flirt,
Had us guys
wrapped ‘round her finger
in that smoky joint
her scent would linger,

Pilot, mechanic,
surveyor and me
each of us thinking
we had the key,
Convince that waitress
to see our way
perhaps to the light
of the coming day,

The job wound down
but none of us got
anywhere close
to where we sought,
But to this day
can smell her perfume
playing Marshall Tucker’s
Love Song tune,
