Sleeping on a park bench he arose to find a girl
watching him sleeping under the full moon.
Without a word spoken the hobo smiled at her
and she smiled at him in return.

The star-filled night in the city was warm and
the girl asked " what is your name? "
" Simon " he said and asked " what is yours? "
" Nikki " she said smiling as he turned.

" Do you not have a home? " Nikki asked of
the unbathed bearded man.
" Lost it in a fire " Simon said as he lowered his
head and began to cry.

" I'm so sorry " she said " maybe you could come home with me for a little while."
" You think your folks would allow me in their home? "
" If they didn't then I'd just die. "

As Simon walked with Nikki to her home on a hill by the city's beach.
Nikki said " I'm sure my parents will help you Simon,
don't you worry about a thing. "

" I hope you're right Nikki " Simon said with a harshness in his trembling voice.
" Oh they've got to " Nikki said as she smiled at him
" you don't have to keep begging."

Once at Nikki's house her parents met Simon and let him in their sweet scented home.
Nikki's mom took Simon to shave and shower and gave him some proper clothes.

Nikki's parents gave Simon a nice hot meal before giving him a warm, comfy bed.
As morning dawned they made them all breakfast after they rose.

Nikki's dad said " I can get you a mail room job
at my work downtown."
" You'd do that for me? " Simon asked and Rob said
" it would be my pleasure. "

Nikki's mom Marjie said " if you'd like you can rent the bed room downstairs. "
" I don't know what to say " Simon said " you folks are like a golden treasure. "

Months went by, Simon found his own home and thanked them all as he left.
" I can't thank you all enough for helping me get through this rough patch of my life. "

" If it wasn't for you Nikki I wouldn't be where I am now,
I want to thank you all so much. "
As they all hugged Simon he said goodbye and at last he
was rid of his pain and strife.
