Cars roaring sending waves along the pavement
Clothes clashing in the basement
Far from the moist midnight
Bellows of heat wafting from the ground
Reaching with swirls of vapor underneath the porch light
While it's slippery cousins fall towards the grass
And the soap and the earth tickle my nose
My mind is silent
Yet the words reach for the shore
My eyes blink
Twinkling slowly as I face the stars
Hazy, weary, still I think
Amber light caresses my shadows
Low but bright, whispering for me to go
The cool breeze lovingly pushes at me
Telling me that a soft bed is waiting deep within
But I need this moment
The space between words
The gasp of clarity
And just be content between the ticks of time
This pleasant sense of normalcy
As cars wash by
And I sit in my chair
Watching the rain blow kisses on my face
Smiling to the distant thunders of my heart
Listening to the noiseless breaths of the house
Warm, safe, no reasons for stress
And just happy to be in the present - this single moment of bliss
You capture that inner peace we all desperately need. It's truly a poetic moment. You are very good with imagery.
