Click hereThis is for my June, wishing her all the best for a wonderful future xx
It is with tears I bid her farewell
our love deserves no less in the leaving
than it has had since we first met.
Memories of those nights of passion
when despite her exhaustion she would
as only she could, love me with such devotion.
Memories of those mornings of snatched time
before her bus would come, after we had
loved and kissed and laughed and joked.
Her farewells were the stuff of legend.
There was a door, but windows attracted her
and made Wolfie despair as he repaired them.
Her tongue was as fearless in talk
as it was skilful in love
and in giving pleasure to me.
She was, she would say
“just me.” Which was enough,
which was all.
The stories stand as our memorial,
“Just June,” my fearless Northern Lass,
to have been loved by you is sufficient.
To have loved and to be loved
is all we can want and hope for
so I wish you every joy.
No more missing the bus
now you have her
and I rejoice and wish you the best.
For you deserve that, and love
to heal and grow with you
in all you do and will be.
As the notes of “Farewell to Stromness”
pour from the radio, I wish naught but the best
for June, my rough northern lass -
with your heart of purest gold.
