Tauntingly the telephone is silent.
Unheeding of my meaningless pleas
& threats it sits there mute.
It will not talk to me!
No matter how long I sit
staring and cajoling,
wishing, begging and pleading,
it will not speak!
This is not the phone's fault.
No matter what I tell it, it can't be.
It's not alive, has no choice to make
or conciousness with which to choose.
So who to blame for such wanton cruelty,
if not the infernal device of it's
deliverance?
Why, the bastard who won't ring
when he says he will!

call me

I won't call don't ask me ~ and she excuses the telephone and blames ~ guess who - the guy who doesn't call.

It matters little;

Blame him or the machine

They can't help it,

It's just their nature...
