We're still young enough to make mistakes.
Aging gracefully, fist to fist with
The Fates.

I am 3 decades into betting high stakes.

To guess the future is futile
but that doesn't stop me.
I think that I might always
run the risk of knowing

I don't know it all.

We trace time to infinity yet there are
are girls who avoid smiling
because it could cause early wrinkling.
Oh, heaven forbid.

But these laugh lines grow on me like tree vines
and the corners of my eyes
have seen too much.
My tongue has caught more tears than
the desert caught rain this year.
One day my body will turn to dust.

I'm not afraid of what's to come.
I'm afraid of how I'll handle it.
I've never been good at heuristics
but I guess it's all semantics.
