(Pain in prose is often shattering emotion.)

My mind weakens succumbing
To the many gentle promises of you.
My soul reposes as some rose lain
In satin on a crystalline night awaiting your touch–

My heart sheds its winter clothes.

See not the scars I earned;
The years I learned;
The moments I yearned;
Instead, excuse my precious words of pain–

Reckless homes.

(I feel your softness
Wrapping around my most tender wounds.

I remember myself tomorrow,
I forgive myself yesterday–
All, now, in the context…

Of you.)

(Imprisoned between trust and fear,
I lash out when I least expect it–

Forgive me.)

Time not ticking,
Thoughts not clicking,
Jokers not tricking–

I call out to you.

I see you in the walls.
I smell you under my clothes.
Help me stop shaking–

Secure your face in my dreams.

I am learning that trust and fear
Are not really my captors–

Only the memory of your promised warmth.

Now, I shed these chains and
Snuggle in modest nakedness
Against the very memory of your soul.

Next to YOU.

And, how was your day?
