Spied each other
across the room
noisy party
(not a Zoom),
Familiar face
familiar twitch
‘twas one of us
but which?

When was that
had a guess
my tux
your evening dress,
Ambassador’s
formal ball
drinking scotch
before the fall,

The place was big
lots of space
lots of rooms
just in case,
After about
our fourth drink
simultaneously
“what do you think?...”

Up the stairs
the end of the hall
locked the door
heard the call,
Hormones coursing
through arteries
pants pulled down
to my knees,

We were quick
clean, polite
brought a smile
to the night,
Promises to meet
again some day
not let the memory
slip away,
