why is it no one asks whether my life matters

you think its easy being me
dont cross paths with a black cat
they will say
everyone is afraid when they cross my path

that Robert Frost had some nerve
talking about taking the path not taken
he should be me for a day
no one wants to take the path I'm taking

but it could be worse
at least I can hide in the black night
as long as I stay away from a black tire on the highway
but me on a snow covered plain being patrolled by a wolf
I would be dinner

but my life isnt so bad
eat sleep reproduce
and scare people when they cross my path
that sounds good to me

and as for the cops patrolling this alley
I'm not worried
I have eight more lives
