On my mind
And in my heart
Days turn to weeks
Turn to years apart
Tears that once.flowed
Like a torrential rain
Have slowly dissolved
To this bone deep pain
Your absence a splinter
Absorbed by my skin
Smooth on the surface
And festering within
I wish I could repair
All the ways we went wrong
My pride is my enemy
Alone I sing this song
A dirge for what was
And never shall be
Haunting, forlorn
My mute apology
