Nobody said there was an expiration date
When they pulled you into the light
No one warned about the night
And that each day flew
Never to return
Tick Tock

When they teach you your letters
Say you can be anything
They don’t mention that hours shrink into minutes
The sum of your lessons
Lessened by your years
Trails away to ash
Tick Tock

Miles fly
Time is fleeting
Feeling like a derailed train
I don’t want that destination
Please let me off at the very next station
Don’t wait for me
Tick Tock

When the first tingle left me numb
They told me it was a matter of time
Falling, fading, shrinking, failing
Life in a cage
Taking all of me
Tick Tock

Only able to bear
A single angel to share my legacy
And it takes my motherhood from me
A cut here, a slash there
A coup degrace on my immortality
Tick Tock

No time to find grace
Racing headlong into uselessness
Got to get every little emotion in
Every passion, every fantasy, every feeling
Before the toy breaks again
Tick Tock

Show me excitement
Show me all that is brave and new
Enchant my senses
Distract my thoughts
Give me a moment
Just to drown in you
Tick Tock

And when the final wire burns
And the doll can be held no more
When she is a forgotten window dressing
Or strewn down on the floor
When it is all over and my heart beats no more
I shall have no regrets
Tick Tock
