The silent world in ruins
laid before their eyes.
The aftermath was eerie
and quiet as can be.

Not one bird in the sky
could break the silence there.
The eyes of disbelief
were in incredible awe.

The tallest buildings were
barely at ground level.
The children were all crying
silently deep inside.

The war of worlds was over,
nothing could be done...
to break the sadness inside
that everyone had felt.

As rebuilding began the
city was still on fire.
Soon the fires were all
just smoke in the sky.

The smoke finally was
gone as people all found
houses that were untouched
and still in one piece.

Soon TV was back on the air
and people all watched as
the president gave a speech
to talk about burnt ends.
