My friend says my brain is wired
with voltage and desire
to sit out on the beach at night
wine bottle and a fire,
With my friend (or stranger)
a lover (or might be)
watch the midnight sun
and think of what might be,

She and I go back a ways
(or just met at the store)
when we take a bite of life
we always want one more,
We lay there side-by-side
watch the passing clouds
far from the city noise
and the city crowds,

Drink our wine and wonder
explore each other’s mind
touch each other’s body
and like what we find,
We make love with passion
from a younger time
back when we were twenty
and did this all the time,

Then watch the fire surrender
to the brief arctic night
collect our jeans and jackets
and try as all we might,
To turn back the clock
to that summer that we lost
hand the clerk our credit card
and ask what it will cost …
