Last night dinner
then go to the show
blast from the past
outside snow,
February evening
a lady I adore
foolishly wishing
for a little more,

Look like a couple
some think a pair
highly unlikely
will ever go there,
Travel together
to the road’s end
camp in the wilderness
the brisk north wind,

Blowing on our bodies
refreshing our souls
waiting for water
in the kettle to boil,
Share morning coffee
observe the sun rise
a picture-perfect friendship
the consolation prize?

Brings back memories of a life I once had. Sad but beautiful.
