Consummated

Gray clouds rolling over my spirit…
anxious moments waiting for the coming rains…
torrential in droves the waters pour…
until aching heart dost burst…
still no relief or rest insight…
only more blackness…
cold as steel and pitch as midnight.

Bitter cold the farewell…
as cold as a Sunday place of worship…
and as heartless as a pew…
and God dost laugh…
condemned the olden who played the fool…
and sinners sigh…
and laugh in the face of hypocrisy…
to spit right in God’s eye.

For once condemn…
then man is truly free…
to laugh and love at will…
this one who’s promised hell…
and naught could be worst than the last…
therefore FREE to wear NO mask…
but “to thine own self be true…”
even when playing the fool.

And in the darkest regions…
where the gnashing of teeth are heard…
the olden wears a smile upon his face…
memories…
a gift bestowed by LOVE.

A gift that even God can’t seal…
and all the fires of hell can’t steal.
A gift of unconditional love…
that’s real.

And a message to God…
that old tyrant…
who rules with threats of eternal damnation and death…
the olden dost make it most clear…
the only thing dead is tyranny…
there can be NO real love…
