Cut-off Jeans

Cut-off jeans
fit too tight
but on her
seem just right,
halter top
tied in the back
we’ve been there
now driving back,

Down a wandering
country lane
MG TC
no top, no rain,
Hand on my leg
massaging my knee
those cut-offs
for me to see,

Met in a class
I was teaching
clearly a case
of overreaching,
instructor-student
barricade
perhaps thinking
I’d get laid,

Fact of the matter
that’s what we did
friend’s cabin
well hid,
Up-country
a nice drive
Schrodinger’s cat
both dead and alive,

Says she’s a girl
With a free will
always that way
at least until,
Up on Saturday
back the next day
a little work
a little play,

Edit her novel
drink some wine
have a pretty
damn nice time,
Numerous romps
of carnal delight
by the glow
of lantern light,

Halfway back
off to the side
one last chance
to be alive,
Monday morning
coming fast
those cut-off jeans
not meant to last,
