Darkest nights.

*****

The sulkiest depths of obsidian black
Devoid of hope, no broken shards of light
Shattered dreams lay crushed, sucked dry the life they once saw
no place for that proffered helping hand
Scream now the nightmare returns. The faceless faithless dark

The trembling expectant anxiety. Awaiting that first trace of light
But it’s not to be. Creaking floorboards hold no delight for me
Ears tuned sharply for what that brings. The nightmares reality return
Once again the darkness delivers my malicious violation
No light shall enter, no flight shall begin
Death take me now
take away my pain

I love darkness. It's vibrant in its own way.

Intense pain or dread, both. Can imagine being given this poem to interpret — a challenge that would generate varied thoughts/feelings. Thanks for sharing.
