Click hereYour love is an island;
haze and luscious flowers, isolated, hot,
where beasts that feast on blood
are lazy facing hunter’s shot,
where citadels of sand and shell
collapse as witches
fall under their own spells.
Your love is Olympus;
holy and anointing, ethereal and high
and fickle and delicious,
spun from prayer and curse and cry,
ichor, lightning law, and vice.
So to your love
I make my sacrifice.
Your love is my Troy;
every day a battle, every night a song,
and I will be destroyed
for making war where I belong.
But, sweet destruction, nurture me,
for in your love
I seek eternity.
Your love is titanic;
agony, origin, primality and power,
euphoria and panic.
Consume and consummate and cower.
I’m headlong in a raucous sea
or caving star,
now love is gravity.
Your love is solstice;
pools and pomegranates, alcohol and lyres.
Renew me in your kiss,
then burn my body on the pyre.
Morality and fear and falls,
divinity,
let love transcend them all.
Blessed Solstice and Happy New Year!
Imagery in this poem is amazing; the phrasing and pacing moves the reader along so effectively to your final line. Well done! 5*
