Or thick woolen socks.
I didn’t bring undies,
or T-shirts or jocks.
I didn’t bring cutoffs,
Or pack dressy slacks.
I didn’t pick out neckties
Like a business man packs.
I threw in some sandals,
A hat and sunscreen.
I purchased dark glasses
And a towel--which was green.
No need for a jacket
Or mittens or a wrap.
I didn’t need flannels
Or a warm winter cap.
I didn’t pack long johns,
Wool clothing or fleece,
I didn’t bring jackets
With down from fine geese.
I didn’t have the need
For many garments to wear.
We don’t dress for dinner
When we’re visiting there.
I didn’t pack swim suits--
They’re simply obsolete.
When I don’t have one on
My outfit’s complete.
I didn’t pack blazers,
Suspenders or a belt,
Didn’t bring bermudas,
Spiffy sport coats of felt.
I didn’t pack ear muffs,
Or a stylish cravat.
I was planning to hike
In just shoes and a hat.
So I started off hiking
In my sandals and hat,
With my old walking stick
And no pants where I sat.
I hadn’t brought shorts.
I was naked, quite bare,
And the breeze flew around me
And I just didn’t care.
I don’t really need clothing
When staying at this place.
So I think that I’ll go shopping
For a smaller suitcase.
