Listen without hearing
hear without listening...
in one ear and out of
the other.

The rumors are hurtful
the truths are lies dressed
up in sheep's clothing...
murmurs fade.

Nods and okays are
gestures at best and as
talking and chatting fade...
time heals wounds.

Ears burn and someone's
talking about you probably
saying the nastiest things
about you.

What goes around
comes around and words
spoken finally become clear
as can be.

Ears hear and listen to
words out of nasty mouths
that speak in foreign tongues...
ears of tin are hollow.
