The silhouette of my blankets through half closed eyes
looks like the rolling hills of a home
where summer heat splinters the days

And I
So far north of there,
in deepest winter
beneath a small window
that glows in frosty moonlight

Hands on my swelling belly
All at once
Mother
Child
Lover
Earthling
At home in all the far places of the world

Because someday
my harried mind will hush,
and what was once my body
will lend itself back to the earth
becoming as simple as the stem of a flower.
