Eight young friends.

Eight young friends,
Were gathered in a group,
And all were very happy,
Now one boy had dark skin,
The rest they had light.
So they said to the dark boy,
"You're not the same as us-
You cannot be our friend."
So the dark boy went away,
He was lonely and he cried.

Seven young friends,
Were gathered in a group,
Now one was a girl,
The rest they were boys
So they said to the girl,
"You're not the same as us-
You cannot be our friend."
So the girl went away,
She was lonely and she cried.

Six young friends,
Were gathered in a group,
Now one boy had fair hair,
And the rest they had brown,
So they told the fair-haired boy.
"You're not the same as us-
You cannot be our friend."
So the fair boy went away,
He was lonely and he cried.

Five young friends,
Were gathered in a group,
Now one had blue eyes,
The rest they had brown,
So the told the blue-eyed boy.
"You're not the same as us-
You cannot be our friend."
So the blue eyed boy went away,
He was lonely and he cried.

Four young friends,
Were gathered in a group,
Now one was fat,
The rest they were not,
So they told the fat boy,
"You're not the same as us-
You cannot be our friend."
So the fat boy went away,
He was lonely and he cried.

Three young friends,
Were gathered in a group,
Noe one he had freckles,
But the rest they had none,
So the told the freckled boy.
"You're not the same as us-
You cannot be our friend."
So the freckled boy went away,
He was lonely and he cried.

Two young children,
Were sitting both together,
Now one he was stronger,
The other he was weaker,
So the stronger told the weaker,
"You're not the same as me,
You cannot be my friend."
So they both went away,
They were lonely and they cried.

Eight young children,
Sitting all alone,
And all were very sad,
Then every child looked around,
One child had dark skin,
And one was a girl,
And one child had fair hair,
And one child had blue eyes,
And one child was fat,
And one child had freckles,
And one child was strong,
And one child was weak.

Eight young children,
Very different,
Each was very happy,
Sitting in a group.
