Lightning flashes, thunder roars
Overhead, a solitary raven soars
A figure draped in blood-stained white
Cries tears of blood in the stormy night

Lost and alone in a sea of blackness
The figure falls to the ground
Her broken wings twisting around
In her silent world of emptiness

She pleads with her memories
To not torment her anymore
Alone with no loving family
In love she remains poor

In the distance her heart is seen
Impaled upon love's cruel sword
Without her heart, her wings
A fallen angel can go nowhere

So stuck she remains in the storm
Awaiting her punishment to be over
Guilty of crimes not her own
But those of her lover, a runaway

Alone and anguished, broken-hearted
She takes it in silence, still in love
With the one who deserted her for another
Paying for his crimes to prove herself true

Hoping and wishing he'll come back
Yet knowing it will never be
She suffers in the arms of things unfinished
And questions of her fate

Offering her wrists to the gods
She lets the crimson blood flow
Purifying herslef and the situation

Flowing into the bowl
Her blood is her sacrafice
With her broken wings nearby

Solitary and alone
Yet stuck in a sea of people
All of whom are blind and deaf

She tips the bowl to the ground
Ritually purifying the land
And making her peace offering

Her scars she bears proudly
Knowing she has done no wrong
Yet still shunned and ostracized

Her wings are healing
Growing back ever so slowly
She picks up the pieces

Surviving into another day
The pale moon her only companion
While the sun continues to burn

Showing her face only at night
She lives by the darkness
Searching for a guiding light

After the storm is over
Others arrive to comfort the injured
They pester her with questions
And vows to make him pay

They comfort her with their presence
Yet trouble her with intentions
To make her lover pay for his crimes
That she already took responsibility for

They fly around her slowly not realizing
That they are showing off what they have
That the broken angel does not
Wholesomeness in their love of one another

So surrounded she remains
Unable to get a moment to collect
Her thoughts and her heart
As she remains troubled and alone

Always a third wheel, never a pair
The fallen angel is unfullfilled
Unable to tell them how she feels
She remains an actress hidden inside

So silently she waits for the time
When her life makes sense once again
When her love has another heart
To share her abundance with

Unable to explain her scars
The fallen angel hides from the light
Unwilling to face her fears
She hides behind her saltwater tears

Watching the moon flow across the sky
She ponders her life
Always asking why it's so cold
Never able to find the warmth within

Time never seemed to go so slow
With no one to love and hold
Alone in her darkened prairie
But surrounded by unknowing tormentors

Her memories haunt her nights
Her daydreams during the day
Of things that will never come to pass
And never existed in the first place

So she waits again for her life
To be restored, to return triumphant
Unwilling to share her secrets
And unable to share her thoughts

So the fallen angel turns away
And find other comforts
In her drugs and rock and roll

Unable to find others the same
She abuses her fallen body
Knowing that it takes away the pain

Uncaring unfeeling exterior
A crying child inside
Afraid of the dark and being alone

Tears of blood that no one sees
Reserved for the darkness
Unable to shine in the light

So she soars on artificial wings
While falling further into the abyss
Unable to save herself alone

Finding no one coming closer
They're all pulling away
Ashamed of what they let her become

So they ignore the fallen one
Concentrating instead on themselves
Unwilling to see into the shadows

They forget about the fallen ones
Restless in what they've become
Willing to trade for carefree days

Empty inside, full of pain
A masquerading shield hides it well
The fallen angel falls deeper every day

So in her darkened world
With so much time for reflection
The fallen angel dreams about the past
And makes impossible wishes for the future

Time has begun to blur things
What was so horrible then
Seems a minor inconvience now
And not so bad after all

Knowing they were both wrong
Doesn't make it right
All she remembers are the good times
Unable to let it go

Unresolved within her broken heart
The fallen angel still dreams
Knowing they could still do right
And give their love a chance

Like a modern day Juliet
The angel pines for her Romeo
The one no one else could see
That was so special in her heart

And like Juliet
The angel starts to fade
An innocent rose with it's petals
Lying on the ground, crushed

Knowing that it's for the best
Doesn't take away the pain
Of a love unrequited, never found
And never given a chance
