captured in the arms
of fallen branches

roots whispering
in death chants

cradled sigh softly
falls to the ground
as the rain stains
the soil in silence

Lovely!

Short, but sweet! I liked this a lot!

fallen rain

The title ties in nicely as a first line.

The sibilance at the end calls of rain sounds.

I enjoy the image and can almost feel the wet,

but I don't understand the root's "death chants".

Has there been a long drought?

Do the "stains" indicate this?

Short and so good!

Great touch using "death chants" and "stain." They create a really nice tension that keeps the poem from being overly sweet. Love it!

I agree with Jim

This poem is a light touch--smooth. When you read it, there's not a single ripple in it.
