cast by the ship of the night,
I stir in restless sleep.
My mind flits between thought and dream,
seeking a vision of you.
A field of ripened flax,
touched gently by first frost,
cascading strands of spun gold,
shimmering tresses in pale honey hues,
the glow of the morning sun,
captured in your hair.
Wild and wispy, feathery stands,
softer than eider down,
follow behind each of your steps,
catching gentle breezes,
until tamed by braid, ribbon or flowery crown.
Radiant, luminous and full of life,
alluring eyes draw mine.
Clear as the sky in early morn,
on a frosty winter day,
the pale blue luster of moonstone,
twinkles as if sprinkled with stardust.
Moist like the morning dew,
softer than rose petals,
your delicate lips part.
Your tongue passes over them,
calling mine to quench your thirst.
Breaking its bonds, your breath flees,
billowing gasps end in vain,
forcing linen-shielded breasts to rise and fall.
Casting their enchantments, they force me to touch.
A feathery tease reveals the ache within.
Beneath a dappled fir-tree canopy,
my fingers trace light and shadow,
as they dance across your skin.
A radiant blush colors your face,
a smooth, flawless perfection.
My heart quivers in my chest,
pounding like a smith's hammer.
I reach out to you, Elin,
from the depths of my soul.
Seeking not to tame your wild spirit,
but to join with it.
I am the one who unlocked your heart,
and I see love for me there.
Trust your feelings, for they are true!
Let your heart find peace.
I love you Elin, and you love me!
Do not be afraid, to say these words to me!
Thank you RanDog025. I formed an imagine of Elin in my mind, then tried to imagine what a man would say to the woman he loves more than any other, using words, instead of emojis!
In this poem, a suitor describes the woman he wishes to marry. You may also enjoy reading my earlier poem, "How Can I Find Peace?: in which the woman writes her feelings toward him. My forthcoming story, "Maiden-Song" will link the two.
