Shortening distance, mutual wrath.
The hero charges with sword on steed.
Ever determined that his prize be freed.
And so before this legendary clash.
The thunder roared and lightning did crash.
The smoke had cleared and the princess wailed.
Her chosen savior lost, having been impailed.
Her captor then cheered with laughter most coarse.
He too was then killed, kicked by the horse.
Many who've heard this tale may cry.
Knowing all but the horse did die.
I know it doesn't really count as a fairy tale. But I was actually reading the Grimm stories, and most of them didn't have to most magical of endings either.
