Winter in Tucson
this is her plan
work on her next novel
work on her tan,
Old adobe house
half-mile out of town
says come visit
if I get down,

That edge of the country
that end of the state
but text a day early
in case she has a date,
Known to befriend strangers
bartenders and musicians
at times takes them home
for secret missions,

Research for her novels
she explains, with a smile
just outside of town
about a half a mile,
She never tells me much
about what transpires
but reading her novels
I infer her desires,

Sometimes I wonder
if I’m research too
when I come to visit
the things we often do,
So I hope to see her
her temporary space
half-mile out of town
another trophy in her case?
