Halloween Moon

You drove home all the kids in party attire,
All dressed in their costumes, had their fun.
On the way home, the car had a big flat tire,
At least the harvest moon was almost bright as the sun.
And of course the spare was flat as could be,
And your cell phone sitting in the kitchen on the mail.
Looks like a night for a walk in the country.
Never mind all those spooky old wives tales.
I walked past this ancient grave yard,
No ghosts or ghouls, just old headstones,
Nevertheless I felt on my guard,
I wished I had not forgot my phone..
Walking down this country lane dark and quiet,
Then a hoot owl, sang his one note song.
Then three deer ran by me like a midnight riot,
I wondered what could make them run so hard and so long?

There was an abandoned house so cold and dark.
The silence was almost deafening,
No sounds, no birds, no meadow larks.
I wondered what made them all take wing?
Then I noticed a small candle light.
I thought perhaps someone or something is home.
I tripped on something, and cursed the dark night.
I sure hope that they have a phone.
I saw in the moon light bright,
What I thought was a rock, well it was a skull.
I thought, this is some kinda night,
I think of spooky, I am full.
So I head on to the house, quiet as a mouse,
I step on the wood,
I hear a great creak...
So loud I can't speak
So loud and so long,
I think that's not good.
I knock on the door,
It slowly comes open,
With another screech to match the front one.
HELLO, IS THERE ANY ONE HERE?
Dead silence was the answer I fear.
The candle light was there flickering,
Won't you come in, it seemed to be beckoning.

All at once there was someone there,
An ancient butler, with all white hair.
May I help you, sir? Said the old man.
Sorry to bother you, but I have a flat.
If I may use your phone, I'll be gone as fast as fast can.
I'm afraid that we have no phone sir.
I will have to ask you to remain here, and I will get an answer.
Off he goes, I know not where,
The scary butler, with the all white hair.
Minutes later the butler returns ill at ease.
Sir will you accompany me please?
So we walked down this little hall,
Blood red walls, little scary that's all.
In the large living room,
The grand piano player,
was Dracula of doom.
Resplendent as an evil slayer,
Tall and slender, very white,
Definitely a man undead,
Immaculately dressed and what a sight!
I suppose I'm the lamb that's led..
I have sent my man to fix your automobile.
It will take him a little while to fix the tire and wheel.
He strode to where I was standing
He looked me right in the eye
He laughed at my misunderstanding,
Welcome to wvampi!
You should see your face!
We're doing a special event with this very scary place.
So far you're the only gent,
Who hasn't turned and run away..
So what is your name sir?
They call me Harry during the day,
But in the moon light,
I have no name sir.
Seeing the fools plight,
You better run sir!
My face and hair were changing fast,
I started howling at the moon,
The screaming and running of the cast,
Well this was it, they're sealed in doom.
Yes, I always have a great Halloween night,
Especially when the full moon shines bright.
