Harbor
Whisper me,
Breeze-kissed murmurs of slumber awakening,
Like dawn, shy but beguiling, rising reluctant
To the gentle insistence of dew on grass, silvered,
As grey crystalizes to day.
Captive me,
Gentle the restless soul with passion reined,
The refuge found in your measured heartbeats,
No longer alone, solitude cast away, like the shadow games
Of youthful days.
Passion me,
Love and need numbing all, senses in tune only
To the wordless song of desire endlessly played,
The eternal ebb and flow of fervor’s sea, beckoning,
Till the harbor is reached,
And there...
Release me!
Ill Winds
How do you fill that empty space?
The void bereft of any trace
Of laughter, kindness, strength and grace,
How do you fill that empty space?
How do you laugh when all around
Nothing echoes except the sounds
Of latent tears and remembered pain,
Dissonance played over and over again?
How do you feel, when numbness sets
Its walls around you and gives you no rest
From words so harsh that your empty heart
Can do nothing else, but break apart?
How do you run away from the dark,
When your own lonely soul has lost the spark
Of the life you once owned and cherished and kept,
But now, only pieces, are what you have left?
And where are you now, you sad lonely clown?
It’s not just your smile that’s upside down,
The seeds that you’ve sown, are now what you reap,
A bed made of nails… where now you must sleep.
Voyages
Wish that I could travel far and wide across the seas,
View the scenery of this world from a summer breeze.
Would that I could reach the stars or touch the sky above,
See the place where day meets night, be witness to their love.
Dream that I can soar towards where pain does not exist,
Elysium, where all lies and tears, vanish at morning's mist.
Hope dare I that, someday, all my yearnings will come true:
To travel far and wide, my dear, and yet come back to you.
The different views of these poems are a lovely journey taken together. My favorite, perfectly positioned at the end, is Voyages. This work is a voyage and after all, “yet come[s] back to you.”
Thank you so very much! Again, my heart is full.
These poems beautifully carry me upon the seas of love....and capture the melody and emotion of the lyrical journey.
Thank you!
