He sits and waits with racing heart
listening for her return.
Watching the clock so patiently
an eternity since he's seen her..

She came and went so long ago
an exit without warning
his words had cut her like a knife
her tears, like blood were streaming.

If he had known his grip was loose
he would have held her tighter.
He didn't mean to hurt her so
she's a lover, not a fighter.

He cannot wait to share his love
and hold her in his arms
to show her that he loves her so
and that he meant no harm.

He knows that she'll come back to him
she'll want to make amends
He told her that he loved her so
his love for her would never end.

But days go by, no sign of her
the hope he has is fading
he'll hold on tight and spend his life
sitting there and waiting.
