I need you like the sun
needs you
which is to say
not at all

you orbit me
through no fault of my own
if I could snip the strands
of gravity
that bend your path around me
I would not be diminished
in any way
and neither would you
though you might feel the change keenly,
after a time
your suffering would end
and free from the pressure
of my looming proximity
you would grow
to become a sun yourself

so please stop calling me
